Hurricane Sandy: Affected College Early Application Deadlines

Due to Hurricane Sandy, colleges across the United States are extending their deadlines for early decision and early action. Many of these schools announced their changes via social media, including Twitter and Facebook. If you have special circumstances for your application, contact the admissions office of the schools directly.

Babson College
: Early Decision and Early Action deadlines have been extended to Monday, November 5.

Beloit College: Students living in areas affected by the hurricane have until November 8 to assure their applications are submitted.

Bentley University: Early Decision and Early Action deadlines have been extended to November 5.

Boston College: Will be "flexible" with the Restrictive Early Action deadline.

Boston University: Early Decision deadline has been extended to Monday, November 5.

Brown University: Early Decision deadline has been extended to November 7.

Bryn Mawr College: Spring transfer deadline has been extended from Nov. 1 due to Hurricane Sandy

Butler University: Flexible deadline

Cal Poly: Fall filing period will run through November 30th

California Institute of Technology: For students directly impacted by the storm, deadline extension of November 5th

Carnegie Mellon University: Flexible deadline for those affected

Carroll CollegeFlexible deadline for those affected

Case Western Reserve University: Will extend its Early Action deadline to November 5, for all students.

Chapman University: Deadline extended to November 5

Claremont McKenna College: Will be "flexible" with their November 1st ED1 deadline. This applies to all supporting documents from counselors and teachers as well.

Clark University: The Early Action deadline has been extended to November 9.

College of Charleston: Early Notification deadline has been extended until Monday, November 5, by midnight, for students impacted by the storm. If you're unable to submit application materials by November 5 for weather-related reasons, you may request an extension once you have access to email.

College of William & Mary: Early Decision and spring transfer deadlines have been extended to November 5.

College of Wooster: Extended deadline to November 7 for those affected

Colorado College: Deadline is November 15

Colorado State University: Flexible deadline

Columbia University: Early Decision deadline extended to Monday, November 5.

Cornell University: Early Decision deadline has been extended to midnight on November 5.

Dartmouth College: Flexible with the Early Decision deadline for all students who are impacted by this storm; contact the office if materials cannot be submitted by November 5.

Duke University: Early Decision deadline extended to Sunday, November 4. Note that the website has not been completely updated in some places.

Elon University: Flexible deadline

Emerson College: Tuesday, November 6

Emory & Henry College: November 23

Emory University: November 5th overall and November 15th for students in impacted areas

Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts: November 15

Fairfield University: Early Action deadline extended until November 15, 2012

Flagler College: November 12

Fordham University: Early Action applications will be considered timely if received by 11/8/12.

Furman University: November 9

Georgetown University: November 5 deadline

Green Mountain College: November 9

Hartwick College: November 15

Harvard College: Will be "flexible" on Early Action deadline.

Howard University:
Extending the deadline to November 15

Ithaca College: Case-by-case basis for those affected

James Madison University (JMU): Extending application deadlines for Early Action and Dingledine Scholarship to Friday, Nov. 9.

Johns Hopkins University: Extended deadline

Lawrence University: Early Decision deadline extended to November 15.

Lewis and Clark College: Flexible deadline

Loyola Marymount University: November 8

Loyola University Maryland: Extending Early Action deadline to Nov. 15 for those impacted by this storm; all students who apply by this date will learn of their admission decision no later than January 15.

Marist College: Early Decision deadline has been extended to Friday, November 9.

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences: November 15

MIT: Will be "flexible" on Early Action deadline.

New York University: Extended Early Decision I deadline for students living on the East Coast until November 3, at 11:59 pm ET.

Northeastern University: Early Action and spring deadlines extended to November 5, for students directly affected by the hurricane.

Northwestern University: For applicants living in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, the application deadline for early decision has been extended to midnight November 7.

Parsons the New School for Design: November 15

Pomona College: Early Decision has been extended to November 7 for those affected.

Pratt Institute: Early action deadline extended to November 15th

Princeton University: Will be flexible for single-choice early action if Hurricane Sandy or personal issues make it difficult or impossible to to file by November 1. If filing late, submit a brief explanation with your application.

Providence College: November 5

RPI: The Early Decision deadline has been extended to November 5; additional extensions will be announced as warranted.

Rice University: Extending the deadline for applying Early Decision to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 5. This also includes electronic portfolios for applicants to the School of Architecture.

Rutgers University: Extended the application due date to 11/08/12.

Sacred Heart University: December 1

Salve Regina University:
Deadline extended November 8.

Sarah Lawrence College: Extended to November 26

SMU: The Early Action deadline has been extended to Thursday, November 8

St. Mary's College of Maryland: Extending the priority scholarship deadline and the Early Decision deadline to Thursday, November 15.

Stonehill College: November 8

Suffolk University: November 15

Stanford University: The deadline for Restrictive Early Action has been extended to 11:59PM (Pacific Time) on Monday, November 5.

The University of Scranton: December 1

Tufts University: The Common Application site will remain open past November 1 for Early Decision I applications. If Sandy does prompt a post-November 1 submission of your EDI application, the deadline is extended until Wednesday, November 7th.

University of Chicago: Early Action deadline has been extended. All materials due by 5 pm, Central Time, on Friday, November 9.

University of Denver: November 7

University of Kansas: November 8

University of Maryland: The early application deadline will be extended; check with the website as specifics become available.

University of Massachusetts-Amherst: Early Action deadline extended to Monday, November 5; school reports are due by November 20th.

University of Michigan: request for extension due by November 9

University of New Haven: Early Action I application extended deadline until December 1st.

University of Notre Dame: Nov. 8 at midnight for students affected by storm

University of Pennsylvania: Early Decision deadline extended to Tuesday, November 6. Applications for financial aid can be submitted by November 15 to be evaluated for a package to be provided at the time of decision release.

University of Rochester: Extending Early Decision deadline to November 8 for students living in areas affected by the hurricane.

University of Virginia: The Early Action deadline is extended to midnight on Sunday, November 4.

University of Vermont: November 1 deadlines have been extended to November 5.

University of Wisconsin-MadisonNov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. for students in certain states

Villanova University: Early Action deadline extended to Thursday, November 8 for students directly impacted by the storm.

Vanderbilt University:  Flexible for students affected by storm   

Virginia Tech: Nov. 15

Washington and Lee University: Flexible deadline
