Dean Tsouvalas, Editor-in-Chief

Dean Tsouvalas is StudentAdvisor.com's Editor-in-Chief and the mastermind behind The Top 100 Social Media Colleges. He believes in changing the way students learn about college through StudentAdvisor. Dean began his professional life as a high school English and Journalism teacher. Later, Dean left teaching to pursue Broadcast Journalism in New York and served as a field producer for ABC News’20/20 and Primetime Live.

After many years in television Dean transitioned into the world of digital media and joined Lycos where he became Director of Content and writer/producer of the The Lycos 50. Later he went on to hold executive content positions at OurStage.com and Eons. Since launching StudentAdvisor's Top 100 Social Media Colleges he has been routinely invited to speak to students and educators on social media best practices. Dean lives north of Boston with his wife and three children.

Dean is a graduate of Stonehill College where he was a Resident Assistant and studied Communications, Journalism and Education. For speaking inquiries please contact info@studentadvisor.com.

Taylor Cotter, Editorial Assistant

Taylor Cotter is the Editorial Assistant for StudentAdvisor.com helping to create original content for students and parents. Before StudentAdvisor, Taylor worked for several different companies as a writing and marketing assistant. She is passionate about writing,  breaking news and online marketing. She hopes to help students get the most out of their time (and their money) spent in college. Taylor is a graduate of Northeastern University where she studied journalism, English literature and business administration.

Sarah Cotton, Content

Sarah Cotton is part of the editorial team for StudentAdvisor. She is enthusiastic about education with a passion for creating media, whether written or visual. Sarah is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she studied English, Journalism and Education and was a Resident Assistant. She has worked for several magazines and newspapers and is excited to help students and fellow "lifelong learners" in innovative and engaging ways.

 

Diane Thomas, Content

Diane Thomas is one of the newest members of StudentAdvisor's editorial team. She is the mother two college graduates, two college students, and one high school student searching for a college. Diane is an alumna of Boston University's College of Communications, and also works part-time as a newspaper photographer.  Recently Diane wrote,  Adventures of a 50yr old Intern Returning to Work, her very real, fun and insightful take on returning to work at StudentAdvisor.

 

Technical

Alex Bromley, Senior Software Engineer

Alex Bromley is the Senior Software Engineer working on the StudentAdvisor team.  With a background leading multi-faceted teams of programmers, designers, and content managers in the publishing industry Alex is able to understand and encourage both sides of the innovation process.  Alex is a graduate of Bentley College's CIS program where he graduated summa cum laude. For Alex, working on StudentAdvisor has been a great opportunity to reconnect with the world of higher education and exciting new technologies like Ruby-on-Rails.

Kathy Godfrey, Principal Scientist

Kathy Godfrey is StudentAdvisor.com's Principal Scientist.  She is responsible for creating the algorithm behind the Top 100 Social Media Colleges. Before coming to StudentAdvisor, Kathy worked on numerous projects for a research and development firm that was one of the genuine inventors of the Internet. Kathy earned a B.A. in Math at the University of Chicago, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Statistics at Harvard University.

Duane Morin, Director of Mobile Application Development

Duane Morin's diploma says "Computer Science." His followers call him "Shakespeare Geek." Duane Morin is on a mission to prove that how you educate yourself and what you want to do with your life are not mutually exclusive propositions. By day he's a software engineer with 20 years experience working on everything from medical devices to education web sites, while in his spare time he entertains and educates his thousands of Twitter and Facebook fans with all things Shakespeare. Duane lives in Massachusetts, is married and has three young children, all of whom can quote Shakespeare. Duane is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).
