It is still recommended, but it is just that - a recommendation. If you feel as though your time is better spent taking a focused elective rather than a math course, by all means, do that! However, remember that almost all colleges will make you take a math course, regardless of what your major is. If you struggle with math, it might be best to take a less-demanding math course your senior year just to keep it fresh in your mind for college.
