Well, one thing that every college student needs is money. I think that a gift card to Target or Walmart would be thoughtful and very useful for a freshman. They could use it for dorm shopping, groceries, school supplies, etc. It thoughtful and very useful and I think it would be greatly appreciated.

If he or she is going to be living in a dorm, he'll need a microwave, laundry supplies, comfortable furniture, bedding, and decorative items like posters and lamps. A great option is a gift card for a place like Wal Mart, Target, or Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Restaurant gift cards are great too, as college students love to go out with friends.

I always ask for one thing since I've been in college: gift cards to the grocery store. Buying food is expensive and something that I try to avoid, so I often end up going out or eating in the dining hall. Gift cards to the grocery store ensure that I can be a little healthier without breaking the bank :)

Best gifts for a college freshman would be a gift that should be reusable throughout their college history. Maybe you can give them a gift card to a bookstore, whereas they can buy a book that is required for their studies. If they're living on campus maybe a person could buy them essentials for their dorm. If they don't have a laptop, buy them one because we know they would need it for all the writing and studying they would be doing in the future. These are just some ideas.

A laptop is always a winner, but if thats out of your price range consider an orangizer or a planner, also a gift card to a food place near campus would be a great gift. Also prehaps buy them to college essentials such as notebooks, folders, pens, and pencils just to get them off on the right foot.

Gifts that are the most in right now. Examples are like cellphones, iPods or a GPS or their car. Other gift ideas may include dorm items such as a quilt or desk supplies.

There are many great gifts to give college freshman. One idea is a gift card to a book store. College textbooks can be very expensive and this gift card can help them curve the cost. You can also give gift cards to stores that sell dorm items such as bedding and decorations. Another idea is picture frames so they can always have the picture of the people they love back at home.

If they don't already have them a laptop, scientific calculator and kendle would be great. In the lower priced range a gift card to a large store that is in the area near the college would be greatly appreciated. A gift card to a restaurant would break up the monotony of college food. For free you can download Skype onto everyone's computers so communication with home will be free and convenient.

money is the best gift. this allows the student to use it towards dorm essentials or towards a band account. in some cases it can help with their books. if you don not want to give money then give something they can use at college, a tv, a fridge ect.

There are lots of great gifts for college freshman. You might want to help pay for a new electronic, such as, a laptop, cellphone or ipod. Another good idea is gift certificates for clothing stores or for restaurants. Try to get a college freshman things that are practical and will be of use in their college years.

Things for their dorm are always great gifts, but money and gift cards are fun too. Almost every college freshman is broke, and so they need some extra spending cash. Find out about a nice restaurant in the area where their college is and then buy them a gift card.

I think the best gifts a freshman can receive would constitute a notebook or a netbook, an Ipod touch, a phone with video confrencing capabilities, a car or a bicycle. The things mentioned are suitable for any college student to keep in touch with teachers and professors to calrify doubts, to get quick answers off the internet, to make notes, to travel around campus and even to unwind by listening to some music. All these facilities would most definitely make the life of a freshman much easier than it usually would be.

It depends on your budget, but the best gifts are essentials - things like a laptop, a phone (prepaid is best!), a gift card (try ones that can be reloadable by a third party), or some decor. It depends on what the recipient likes, or if there's something in particular that they really need - anything from bedsheets to an alarm clock can be a great idea if they're nice-looking and functional.

If you are a fresher getting into the college, a new world of aquaintances as boys and girls from different part of the world, tutors, professors and totally it is a new atmosphere which might change your future life. Many students have changed their subject of study after joining. So to say it is a beginning of one's life. But if you are a scholar coming out of the college, well a wonderful word is waiting to offer a job of earning. Now a days, talented students are even absorbed from the colleges for jobs and sponsored for further studies, by the companies who grab them. In totality a lot of gifts are waiting for you.

Gift cards to local grocery stores or Target/Walmart type stores would be helpful to college freshmen away from home. Or even a gift card to the school store, so they can stock up on books, supplies, and college gear. If the freshman doesn't already have an ipod or a laptop, those are great gifts as well.

I'm going to rattle off a list of gifts I would have liked to have received. Laptop- well, we can dream, can't we? Note cards, binders, and if the student is taking a foreign language an English-to-Insert-Language-Here dictionary is a must. An iPod is a great idea too, if that's affordable and if they don't already have one; if they do, a gift card for music. Some people study better listening to music, and that will help drown out any distractions from obnoxious dorm mates.

College freshmen may find that things are quite a bit more costly than they had anticipated. Money is a good gift for any college student. A gift certificate to the bookstore on campus is another idea. Books are very expensive and that could help to defray their costs. Along those lines, maybe a gift card for a restaurant on or near the campus would be a good gift.

Well you can always offer to pay for some of their first set of text books, I was in sticker shock my first year seeing a professors $80 cd-rom and 120 workbook to go along with it. You can also get them a nice daily planner, jsut to keep track of everything that is going to be going on. Or even a new alarm clock to get them up and ready for the school day.

The first thing that comes to mind is a laptop. I'm going to be a freshman this fall semester and that's the one thing that I've been asking for. Also, a good idea would be furniture or a cell phone if your student doesn't already have one. And money is always a good option to, but if you don't feel comfortable giving money, you can always give gift cards or something. But like I first mentioned, a laptop would be a great gift. Hope I helped :)

College freshmen are going into an entire new environment, and most are going to live in a dorm. Think of items that a student needs to stock a dorm room and successfully study each night. Gifts might include a mini-fridge, study materials or a bedset.

As most college freshman are rather short up on cash, giving a financial gift is sure to be appreciated! Such gifts are well liked, as they can be used towards any of a student's needs, albeit social or academic. In addition to money, gift givers should consider gift cards to local stores and personal gifts that will remind them of home, such as photos souvenirs.

There are several gifts that are perfect for the first year college student. An MP3 player comes in handy not only to listen to favorite tunes but also for audio books and note taking. A digital camera can capture memories and will be appreciated. Prepaid gas cards will get the student who is spending all his money on education home once in a while. And finally, a few rolls of quarters since most will need to do their own laundry.

Gift cards for groceries are always practical and helpful. Anything comforting is also good, like candy. College students enjoy getting care packages so include anything that you think the student will enjoy. Maybe pictures or clothes.

The best gifts for a college freshman are things that probably remind them of home so they don't get too anxious or nervous from being away. Maybe photos, personalized mugs and monogrammed items will give them a homely feel. Other items would be useful things such as a lamp or an organizer.

The best gifts for a freshman are ones that he or she can use. The best gift if you can afford it is a laptop computer. Personal computers are a wonderful device to have and if it's a laptop, it's something that's portable if your child wants to take it to a coffee shop to study or when it comes time to move out of the dorm room.

Freshman going off to college need a lot of new things. Avoid giving bulky gifts, as dorm rooms are often small. Potted plants are a great option, or posters that can be hung on the wall for decoration. Another often appreciated gift is a white noise machine that can block out any distracting noise while the student is trying to sleep or study. Money is always an appropriate and greatly appreciated gift for any college freshman.

I would get a college freshmen a new car because everyone needs transportation. I would also get them a laptop because university are using technology more efficiently and social networking sites are a great way to keep up with friends. Next item would be a three one hundred dollar gift certificates because college kids love going out and eating with their friends. What college kid wouldn't want a basket ball because they could play hoops with their friends at anytime. Libraries are always crowded at certain times so I would get them a printer because that would make it easier. Finally, a Xbox because everyone needs to relax in college and have fun.

College freshmen are usually strapped for cash and thankful for any gift that they might receive. However, there are a few gifts that are sure to please. If the student does not already have a dorm sized fridge, a clothes drying rack, a computer lock, a flash drive, or a laptop case, these are all possibilities. If you are looking for a less practical gift, packages of snacks, gift cards to local restaurants, sports equipment for games with friends, computer games, or a new ipod are all sure to be enjoyed. Even rolls of quarters for the laundry machines can make an excellent gift!

A college freshman is setting up a mini-household, so they'll need many things. A seven-day alarm clock is great, since their class schedule will vary by day. A small toolkit or Leatherman comes in very handy. These gifts may not wow the recipient at the time, but they'll appreciate your thoughtfulness for years to come.

Fast food gift cards because we get munchies. Walmart gift cards for all the supplies we don't know we need until we get there. A laptop, because roomates get loud, they get into my desktop, and also that desktop takes up a lot of room. Clothing store gift cards, because we're gonna get big, small, and change every which way and clothes are expensive.
