My review

The Good:

The best thing about Spelman would be the small number of students. There are only about 2500 students enrolled at Spelman. This makes class time much more intimate. The teachers treat the students like family, and each department provides a small town feel. Although Spelman is a historically black institution, the many different student groups on campus shows exactly how diverse we all are. There is literally a student group for WHATEVER you are interested in. If there isn't, one can be created :) As a liberal arts school, you will be exposed to many different aspects of education. You will be able to hold a conversation on just about ANY topic brought up to you. Spelman has many renowned professors who, aside from various topics, will expose you to many different frames of mind. They will provide much insight of the world you live in, and teach you to question EVERYTHING!

The Bad:

The worst thing about Spelman is the cost. spelman is a very expensive college, and since it is a private school, it gives out very little scholarships/financial assistance. Another thing would be the surrrounding area. Spelman is located in downtown Atlanta, and is not centered in the very best of communities. However, with Spelman being a gated community and their 24 hour public safety, it is not directly effected. Lastly, there is no air in the freshman dorms. This is not always bearable in the mid summer Atlanta heat. However, you are allowed to bring as many fans as you'd like!

Would I do it again?

Yes, Spelman has changed me, my goals in life, and my focus. I am much more community minded, and I have learned to aim much higher. It has opened my mind to things I have never imagined. It has awarded me many opportunities in various sectors, and has provided me a solid foundation to take with as I embark on a new journey after graduation. It has changed my entire life.
