The best thing about the University of Georgia is the overall great college experience that UGA has to offer. A nationally ranked top 20 public institution, Division I SEC sports, Saturday football between the hedges, and over 600 student organizations and Greek life to choose from, all set in one of the best college towns in America, Athens, GA. The University of Georgia truly has it all. As a first semester finance major in the Terry College of Business, I have been immersed in almost every aspect of business from finance and accounting, to business law and real estate principles. Along with being taught by nationally renowned professors, I have the pleasure of participating first hand in numerous research studies and have the offer to study around the globe at numerous UGA global centers. I never find myself in a dull moment here at UGA, there is always something to do, weather it's studying hard for a class or enjoying time in downtown athens, UGA has something for everyone! To top it all off, I would say UGA is one the safest campuses and one the most affordable universities, as UGA is ranked one of the best value colleges!
While the UGA campus and downtown Athens is by far one of the best college towns in America, the same cannot be said for the surrounding areas. Athens-Clarke county is one of the most impoverished counties in America, making for some pretty rough areas outside of campus and downtown. Surprisingly though, UGA is one of the safest campuses in America. Another downside to UGA is the large lecture classes, which makes it hard to establish close connections with many of your lecture professor's. Be prepared to sit through multiple 200 person plus classes. Even with the largest bus system of any university, be prepared to walk a lot. UGA covers over 4,000 acres and 300 buildings.
Yes, Once you're apart of the Bulldawg family, you're always a part of it! UGA becomes a part of who you are, and because of that I would do it all over again.
