This school is an online program that allows students to complete coursework at their own pace. It is perfect for adults returning to school after starting a family, or for non-traditional students who may need a more flexible school. The best thing about this school is the mentor aspect. Each student is assigned a mentor to help guide/motivate them through their learning experience. This aspect is, in my opinion, the key to WGU's success. The mentors are very well informed, check in with students on a weekly/bi-weekly basis, and ensure that students have access to all of the resources they need to be successful. They serve as counselors, cheer-leaders, and advocates, making each student feel like they have their own personal coach to help navigate the online learning experience.
The worst thing about the school is that it doesn't really focus a lot on making the traditional "college" experience. There are no extracurricular groups to join; the paraphernalia selection is sparse; you have to request a student ID badge - things like that.
Yes, I have a family of 6 and work full time. WGU allowed me the opportunity to finish my degree at my own pace. The competency-based approach was especially helpful - you don't move forward until you show mastery in a particular area. This made me truly feel like I learned something, because I HAD to actually perform specific tasks at mastery level versus just memorizing information for a test or exam. I feel extremely confident and competent in the field I majored in. I have experienced both online and traditional learning environments, but my experience here was second to none.

Another awesome thing is The alumni services program. Their interactive website is full of resources to assist you in securing a job immediately after graduation, including interview and resume-building assistance and communities for degree-specific graduates.
Study Hard? Pray? Donate Money? Research online learning environments and determine whether this setting is right for you. The interview process weighs this factor heavily.
