By far known as one of the best (if not THE best) liberal arts colleges in the nation. Admission to Amherst College should be taken as seriously as admission to any of the Ivy League Institutions.
Personally, I would prefer going to school in a large city rather than Amherst, MA, but this college and the town are still amazing places to go to school for four years.

Student-teacher engagement is superlative. Most professors either ensure small class sizes, or structure the class in a way to create more interaction and get a chance to know their students.
I guess it boils down to cliques. You definitely get some jocks sleeping through class, some goofs going through an ostentatious period of "experimentation," and other groups for better and worse....
