Davidson College history begins when it was founded in 1837. Both the town and the college were named for William Lee Davidson, a Brigadier General in the Revolutionary War. Part of the land on which the college sits was donated by the son of William Davidson. As an act of graciousness, the Presbyterians named the college after him. Once an all-male school, the college invited women to attend in 1973. To this day, the ratio of men to women is about 50/50.

High level of academics. You will not find a better education anywhere (yes including ivy league schools) from quality of professors to rigorous workload, Davidson ranks with the best
Declining Social life. There was a time when this school was the model for a work hard/play hard College. With changing administration, this seams to be changing as the party scene is slowly being...
The best thing about this school is how they have great professors. They help you get a good education.
The bad thing about this college is that it is a very expensive private school. The surrounding area is also very boring unless you go into Charlotte.
