I thought that everyone I met there, including student ambassadors, professors, and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I did choose to attend Marquette after taking the tour.
The neighborhood surrounding Marquette is dangerous, urban, and low-income. I think that some people would be discouraged from attending the school because of its surroundings.
My son has loved his time at Maquette he has met so many nice people. He really has enjoyed his time at college and I am really happy for him.
The only thing that he has complained about are the dorms. He was matched with a bad roommate but that is a rather typical college experience so... it is all about learning people skills.
Sports, especially basketball, at Marquette are a blast. The competitiveness is stellar. Also, the education is very good, as well as weekend life.
The school is pretty big, so it can be a little overwhelming. Try to make friends in the first couple of weeks your there, and join clubs.
