Merrimack College is a selective, independent Catholic college located in North Andover, Massachusetts. Merrimack follows the Catholic, Augustinian mission to enlighten minds, engage hearts and empower lives. The campus is located just 25 minutes north of the city of Boston and nearly 80% of Merrimack ‘s students live on campus.
Merrimack College was founded in 1947 as The Augustinian College of the Merrimack Valley. The same Province of St. Thomas of Villanova who founded Villanova University in Philadelphia, established Merrimack College at the request of Richard Cushing, then Archbishop of Boston to serve the needs of G.I.’s returning home from World War II. Since the college’s founding, the campus has grown to 40 buildings, including a 125,000-volume library. Merrimack has graduated over 22,000 students from all across the United States and around the globe.
