Saint Leo University Offers Accelerated MBA
While many
MBA programs aretargeted
towards professionals
looking to make the next step in their career, the Masters of Business
Administration is becoming increasingly
necessary simply to land a first job in the competitive business world.
As a result, Saint Leo University
will begin offering a
one-year International and Experiential MBA program this September,
targeted
for young students with bachelor’s degrees in business administration
seeking a career in the corporate
sector. The program is based out of Tampa, Fla.
“At many companies, entry-level
positions require the MBA
degree. You need the internship piece and international exposure,” said
Dr.
Lorrie McGovern, director of the MBA program at Saint
Leo's Donald R.
Tapia School of
Business. “This is what the students need in order to succeed.”
The accelerated program is tailored
to full-time students
seeking to expedite their careers, rather than working part-time and
studying
part-time. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students will take daytime
classes
on economics, finance, accounting, human resources, organizational
behavior,
information systems and management, marketing and global business
management.
In the summer of 2013,
the
coursework will culminate in a weeklong study trip to Rio, Brazil, and
surrounding areas where students will apply their coursework in
international business.
Coupled with Saint Leo's general MBA program targeted towards already working business professionals, the university hopes that this accelerated program will accommodate all candidates seeking further business education.
